whats up
ok just bought this off of a guy who had the timing belt pop on him while he was going 50-60 (so he says) and i know that i will have to replaced the head or at least i think i will but can anyone tell me how and if there is anything else i should do.

Hmm...Tampa? You're a long ways from home.
You shouldn't necessarily have to replace the head...possibly just a valve or two...or three... If you can get a complete head for less, it is much easier.
You are replacing the timing belt while you are doing that right? ...just checking [img]wink.gif[/img]
While you have the head off, you might check the piston tops. They should be ok as they are much stronger than the valves but you might as well give them a look while you are there.
Oh, before doing any of this, you might just replace the timing belt and rotate a full cycle to see if you do have any clearance problem between the valves and piston. There's a good chance that there was no damage other than a broken belt. What engine type is it?

The D16s are moderate compression and probably don't have valve clearance issues. You should just replace the timing belt before trying and head work. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]
